Stigmas
If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen my reel earlier this week about a home visit nurse who was surprised to hear I was the patient because I was so young. I was annoyed. I was annoyed that someone who told me she’s been doing this job for ten years thought it was okay to say something like that. Am I really the only young person (and by the way, I’m in my mid-30s not 18), whose home she has visited in ten years? Doesn’t she know there are people in the world with chronic, invisible illnesses who are not elderly?
This leads me to today’s prompt…
Today’s Prompt (14): What are the stigmas associated with your invisible illness? How do they impact your life? Write about what you want your reader to know to better understand what it’s like to be someone living with an invisible illness.
Turn your phone on airplane mode and remove all distractions. Set a timer and write for 25 minutes. I encourage you to write in a notebook instead of on your computer or phone - don’t edit while you’re writing. When the timer goes off, if you have the time, space and interest to continue, go for it.
