Person First, Patient Second
Person First, Patient Second. This is how I want to be seen. I don’t want to be defined by my illness and think it’s safe to say nobody else does either. I gave this prompt to my current writing class and it was an amazing way for everyone to get to know each other better, not just about their illnesses.
Today’s Prompt (17): Who are you as a PERSON? Write about all your identifying qualities. See how you can write about yourself without incorporating your invisible illness.
Turn your phone on airplane mode and remove all distractions. Set a timer and write for 25 minutes. I encourage you to write in a notebook instead of on your computer or phone - don’t edit while you’re writing. When the timer goes off, if you have the time, space and interest to continue, go for it.
Keep an eye out for an email from me on Wednesday with exciting information!
